Studio P.I.
Shanghai
In the heart of Shanghai, China, the innovative company Studio P.I. has integrated the cutting-edge solution #CycSatellites to revolutionize its operations. Faced with significant inventory and development cost issues, Studio P.I. launched the RE:license brand, aiming to collect unsold inventory from retail partners, redesign these items, and reintroduce them to the market under a fresh, sustainable label. The adoption of #CycSatellites has significantly bolstered this initiative.
By leveraging the advanced data collection and analytical capabilities of #CycSatellites, Studio P.I. was able to streamline its inventory management and optimize the redesign process. This technology allowed for precise tracking of unsold goods, analyzing patterns, and predicting trends, thus reducing wastage and enhancing the efficiency of upcycling operations. The results were remarkable: a 20% increase in net profits, achieved by transforming otherwise redundant stock into marketable, attractive products.
Over five years, upcycling 5,000 pieces has saved approximately 100 tons of CO2 eq, diverting about 2.5 tons of textile waste from landfills. This effort also saved around 50,000 kWh of energy, enough to power 20 households for a year. By using upcycled materials, the brands reduced material costs by about 50%, translating to monthly savings of $2,000. The initial investment in upcycling technology and training was recouped within 18 months.
By placing human skills and reskilling as its priorities, #CycSatellites redesigns and upcycles the excess fashion stock and turn it into marketable apparels in completely new fashion lines. It will create additional cash flows and values to the apparel companies with little cost while ensuring the negative environmental impact is reduced to the minimum. #CycSatellites intends to build a global network of satellite cities with experienced designers and craftsmen to get engaged in sustainability solutions that will reshape the global supply chains in the fashion industry of the future.
