The City of Toronto commissioned Fer-Pal to install the ALTRA technology within both 150mm water mains located in residential areas and 300 mm water mains in busy arterial and commercial sections. By lining the water main with ALTRA, businesses experienced minimal disruption, minimizing the economic impact on the area. Further, down the street, the neighbourhood had recently experienced an open-cut replacement project that lasted over two years, significantly impacting the businesses on that street section.
Water infrastructure is a vital part of modern society, but in many cases, pipes and other infrastructure are aging, risking damage and leakage. SANEXEN’s ALTRA proven water technology renews and protects aging water infrastructure from the inside. It offers a less disruptive and physically superior alternative to the outright replacement of aging or deteriorated water main pipes. On average 25% less expensive than traditional construction methods, it also presents several other benefits. It is anticipated that the deployment of this technology over 15 years will lead to considerable reduction in carbon emissions, fuel consumption, potable water loss through leaks as well as traffic and urban disruption.
