The Circular Explorer aims to tackle one of the world's biggest environmental challenges: plastic. By collecting, sorting, re- and upcycling plastic waste from rivers and coastal areas, the Circular Explorer contributes to healthier marine ecosystems and engages with local partners for the most impactful and sustainable recycling solutions. Powered by solar energy, no emissions are generated during the process. However, that's not where the work of the Circular Explorer stops. Through a dedicated educational and scientific program, awareness of the circular economy is built, insights for better waste management are gained and communities around the world are engaged to reduce waste in the first place.

The Environmental Benefits

  • Cleaning capacity of 21'000qm/h. The energy self-serviced Circular Explorer is built to actively collect plastic garbage out of the water to recycle waste and reduce pollution.
  • Waste collection potential of 4 tons/day/boat
  • Reduced impacts across all environmental categories, with the reduction in Global Warming Potential reaching ~65%

The Financial Benefits

  • Able to save roughly 500 Php operating cost per ton of waste
  • The reduction of the plastic pollution in the seas and the better waste management practice on land reduces the associated cost for health and environmental treatment
