CCS, or Carbon Capture and Storage, is an integrated process comprising three distinct parts: carbon capture, transport and storage. The technology aims to produce a concentrated stream of CO2 that will be conditioned, transported and permanently stored in geological sites on land or under the seabed. CCS is seen as an important solution for reducing CO2 emissions from various industrial sources (power stations, cement, steel, ...) helping to combat global warming and protect air quality. It is also aligned with the climate objectives of the Paris Agreement, enabling countries to meet their greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. In addition, CCS makes it possible to add value to existing infrastructures by extending their lifespan and reducing their environmental impact.
