About

In partnership with community stakeholders, Lillianah remediates nearshore marine settings via natural biofiltration of waterways. We achieve this by cultivating site-specific native diatoms—photosynthetic, silica-based aquatic algae—in bioreactors designed and manufactured in-house. The next step in our process involves releasing our cultivated diatoms into nearshore environments, supplemented with silica-rich nutrients that naturally enhance their growth. These nutrients provide the optimal conditions for our diatoms to outcompete harmful algae, promoting a balanced and healthier ecosystem. As our diatoms photosynthesize, they increase oxygen concentrations in the water column and remove pollutants, removing substantial volumes of carbon as a product, which is then stored as marine sediment as they fall to the ocean floor; this is the process that we sell as Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal credits. Our work brings back life and reduces the burden of our emissions on planet earth.
