About
Independent from any turbine manufacturer or engineering company, Mhylab is performing R&D activities in the field of small hydro turbines covering a wide range of applications.
All the R&D work is performed in our own laboratory allowing to test the designs we have developed in order to propose them to the market. Our concept Is based on the systemization, which allows to propose designs adapted to any specific situation, as each small hydro site is different form another one. This method is of high importance to allow a sustainable and optimal use of the water when mitigating the impact of the human activity on the environment.
Hydropower is often considered as a mature technology, where there is no more space for innovation. It is obviously not the case and many challenges are met, as for instance development of material for remote and rural electrification, fish friendly turbines, new materials, etc. Moreover, small hydro can play a significant role in the operation of smart grids integrating intermittent renewable energies.
One of the innovative point of our business model is that our research and development result are made available on a non-exclusive basis to any manufacturer or company that is interested in proposing reliable, efficient and cost effective turbines to the market.
Our staff also acquired a wide experience in projects aiming in recovering energy in infrastructures that were not designed for that purpose, as for instance in drinking water, irrigation water, wastewater networks. The idea it to find “hidden hydro” in order to produce green electricity instead of dissipating the water energy that is not needed for the primary goal of the infrastructure.
Our laboratory facility can also be used for any external R&D project in the field of hydraulic machines.
Besides our R&D oriented activities, we are proposing a full range of engineering services and expertise in the field of small hydro equipment (engineering studies, troubleshooting, etc.).
The Sustainable Development Goals are a call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure peace and prosperity everywhere.
